Why Jailbreaking iPhone ??

When you jailbreak the iPhone 4 or 3GS , you unlock its full potential. Only then you are able to have freedom of choice of what you can install on your iPhone. Apple has restricted its device usage to only authorized apps, which severely limits its capabilities . Jailbreaking lets you break free and have the additional tweaks and use of apps not allowed by Apple.

Jailbreaking :

Jailbreaking is the process which allows iDevices like iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch to run third-party unsigned code by unlocking the operating system (iOS4 in this case ) and allowing the user root access. This may sound geeky and too unfamiliar if you are a first time iPhone user . Jailbreaking is a term commonly used among iPhone users worldwide with an estimated 1 out of 10 iPhone’s is already jailbroken .

Unlocking Iphone 4 :

Jailbreaking should not be confused with unlocking . Sim Unlocking or Carrier Unlock when done enables your iPhone to be used by other carriers.

Benefits of Jailbreaking Iphone 4 :

1. Wi Fi HotSpot – Using the iPhone as a Wi-Fi hotspot is the number one reason to jailbreak the iPhone 4 . The app you will require is My Wi
2. Install Cydia – Cydia is like the App Store, it’s lets you install applications right to your iPhone or iPod Touch without a computer
3. Do more with Face Time – Well i know what you plan to do with FaceTime , but this jailbreak app My3G lets you use this feature which is otherwise only available in WiFi.
4. Unlock Iphone 4 – Carrier unlock your device .
5. Block Unwanted Communication using iBlackList app (paid app).

Apart the above mentioned , there are innumerable changes that can be done on a jailbroken iPhone. I tried to summarize the reasons why we jailbreak .

What is Jailbreaking?

A friend of mine ask me why alot of iphone user are exited about jail breaking their phone and what is jailbreak actually, it give me a idea to write it on my blog lol...

What is Jailbreaking ?

Jailbreaking is the process that gives the user read/write access to otherwise locked OS files on their iDevice [iphone , ipod touch , ipad]. After jailbreaking a device , the user can get access to the root level of an iPhone or iPod Touch 4 which then allows them to run custom codes for installing new applications , like unlockers.

Benefits of Jailbreaking :

After you jailbreak iphone 4 , you can install any application installer like Cydia [very popular among jailbreakers]. Cydia comes with tons of apps like MyWi which lets your iPhone to convert into a WiFi host spot or My3g which can let you use face-time on 3G network instead of WiFi . A jailbroken iphone can be unlocked to access different carriers .

Is Jailbreaking Legal ?

Federal regulators announced last month [July 26^th 2010] that it was lawful to hack or jailbreak an iPhone . However Apple is against it and has recently applied for a patent to remotely disable iphone's.

You said carrier unlock . What is that ?

Many mobile phone manufacturers software code their cellular device to work only with a certain operator . Such phones are called carrier locked. The process of unlocking iphone 4 will then allow you to use SIM cards of any operator of your wish . Iphone’s in the United States come carrier locked to AT&T which has the exclusive rights for iphone’s at the moment .
